Community Fund

Springfield Illinois United Way Essential Services and continuum of learningWhat is the Community Fund?

You don’t have to decide between helping kids, seniors, or individuals needing a warm meal and a place to stay. Your gift can help all these needs. United Way’s Community Fund wraps around families by funding programs addressing multiple issues. United Way volunteers evaluate local programs to make sure United Way funding is making the greatest impact possible. The Community Fund process is how knowledgeable volunteers take the lead and evaluate local programs and determine how funds can best be invested in our community. Programs are evaluated within Fields of Service to provide volunteers a better opportunity to understand community needs and service delivery issues in each particular field.

Commmunity Fund Volunteers

These volunteers allocate available funds during the Community Fund process. Volunteers serve on panels to evaluate program funding applications submitted by Member Agencies. They review applications within specific funding areas, evaluating program services, including actual and projected client based program results. The work of these volunteers guarantees that each of the dollars donated to the Community Fund make the greatest impact in our community.
